The Fish Bowl

Painted on location in La Vinuela, Spain; this is a personal response to a much-loved landscape and lake. The vivid ever-changing colour of the lake was my initial stimulus. I plucked Spanish oranges to create a still life in the foreground and by flattening the perspective and looking through the traditional Andalusian shutters down to the lake, there is an intriguing feeling of both harmony and discord in the composition.
